The newly remodeled Southeast Alaskan facility consists of a 2400 square foot main lodge, and three cabins with full baths. Together, they provide living accommodations for sixteen people. The two-story lodge consists of a large kitchen, dining room, bar, living room, and bathroom. The site lies at the head of Windham Bay and includes 210 feet of well-protected deep-water dock, plus a 50’ x 24’ work dock.
The residence and cabins were built in the early 1990’s, and for a period the property operated as a fishing lodge. Under our ownership extensive upgrading has taken place over the last three years. Improvements include the addition of the docks, new electrical system, septic system, boardwalks, water system, roof, deck, heating and furnishings. Power is supplied by deep-cycle storage batteries, charged by a generator which runs a few hours a day. Propane fuels the heaters, stove, dryer and hot water heaters. Internet service and television are available by satellite. Telephone communications are maintained by satellite and internet VOIP.
Windham Bay is located 65 miles south of Juneau. Access is by boat and float plane. As seen in the accompanying maps, the property is in close proximity to several exceptional areas of Southeast Alaska, including Frederick Sound, Endicott Arm, Sawyer Glacier, Dawes Glacier, Ford’s Terror and the Pack Creek bear viewing site on Admiralty Island.
The property lies within the Chuck River Wilderness of the Tongass National Forest which is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. It is the only private property on the six mile long bay.
