View Alaska Wildlife in Windham Bay

The area is rich with wildlife and offers excellent viewing of Brown Bear, Black Bear, Wolf, Moose and Deer. Marine mammals such as Humpback Whales, Orca, Sea Lions, Seals and Otter are frequent visitors. Outer Windham Bay is recognized as a prime whale watching area, being close to Frederick Sound and Stephen’s Passage. Several Sea Lion and Seal rookeries are in the local area. Bird life includes Eagles and other birds of prey, seabirds, shorebirds, waterfowl and songbirds. In the Spring and Fall the Chuck River estruary is used as a resting stop for many species of migrating geese and ducks.
